Phillip: Trip Leader

Currently a non-traditional undergraduate student seeking a B.S. in Biology. Academic focus is in zoology with emphasis in human dynamics of resource management. Developed obsession with rafting over past couple years and has been privileged to spend plenty of time on western rivers. I am the crazy one with the idea to float the Grand in the middle of winter as a graduation gift for myself. I'll be rowing my 14' Aire Ocelot known as the "Restless".

Ariel: My Passenger

My beautiful and quirky wife. She will be joining us from Lee's Ferry to Phantom Ranch. Little does she know the biggest part of her adventure will be hiking out through winter conditions. She is the bread winner of the family and has to return to civilization sooner than I. She loves nothing more than sitting on the front of the Restless, taking in the sights, and drinking all of our Hornitos. Her first whitewater trip was Westwater on March 1st and involved an unplanned run of Skull Hole; what a great wife.

Jim: Oarsman

A professor on a one year sabbatical who didn't hesitate one second to commit to a winter Grand Canyon run. I am privileged to have the company of both an experienced Grand Canyon oarsman and a river historian extraordinaire, all in one. Jim will be rowing a 15' Maravia.
